If you’re a gorilla for Halloween, it only stands to reason your dog should be in a banana costume
Let’s face it, for years now the Halloween holiday has been more fun for more adults than most children. Sure it’s great to see little kids dressed as fairies, pirates, and super heroes. They really are cute. But why should we stop there? Dressing up pets in costume, and dogs especially, is now part of the Halloween tradition. In fact, it is estimated that over $350 million dollars will be spent in the US alone for having our pets participate in Halloween.
So why do we do it? Because it’s fun, of course. Whether you have children or not, our pets are also considered our little fur babies and we enjoy spending time with them. Dressing them up and taking pictures in costume is just another way to have a good time and do something silly with our dogs, cats, guinea pigs, etc.
Some dogs will love it, most will be indifferent, and many will downright hate it… but no harm is done. They get all your attention and the admiration of others and you’ll have the memories and photos to last a lifetime.
The usual precautions need to be heeded, of course. Don’t put them in anything which restricts their movement or can choke or trip them. Supervise them while dressed up to make sure nothing harmful is chewed upon or swallowed. And certainly don’t dress them in anything flammable and watch out for open flames.
